Here you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions. Edge offers two paths of dance instruction: Recreational and Competitive. We are equally committed to both sets of dancers and can discuss competitive opportunities with dancers that are interested. Communication often occurs through email and newsletters. Please make sure your email address is correct in our system.

What’s the earliest age a dancer can start?

Our Dance with Me "Early Edge" class is an introductory dance class starting at 2 years old. 

 

How do I know which class to enroll my child in?

Dancers ages 2 years through 7 years are placed in foundational class based on their age. Dancers ages 8 and up are placed in classes based on their skill level.  For placement of your dancer age 7 or older please contact us.

 

How long is a dance season?

We offer a nine-month session that follows the school year calendar, running from September-May. During the summer months, we offer summer classes, camps, workshops and various dance opportunities. 

 

How do I register my child for a class?

Registration for new dancers and returning students can be completed via our parent portal online, by downloading the "Edge Dance Center" App on your mobile device or during studio office hours.

 

How do I pay my tuition?

Monthly tuition can be paid automatically with a credit card on file, through the Customer Portal or through the Edge Dance Center App.  Auto-Pay is processed on the 9th of every month.  

 

Are there any other expenses outside of tuition?

There is an annual registration fee, costume fee and fee for recital tickets. Annual registration is $30  per family.

 

What should my dancer wear to class?

Our dress code ensures that students receive the best possible instruction, minimize injury, increase focus and develop a strong sense of self-confidence and studio unity. Our dance dress code can be found here

 

Where can I purchase dancewear?

Almost everything your dancer needs for class can be purchased at the studio or ordered through Discount Dance Supply. We carry an inventory of shoes, leotards, dancewear and tights and are happy to order in what you require if we do not have it in your size.  Visit our Dress Code page for ordering details and information. 

 

Can my dancer try out a class before enrolling?

Yes, we offer FREE trial classes to all new dancers. Please contact us to arrange your class.

 

Can I observe dance class each week?

Typically, we offer closed circuit TV's for viewing in our lobby and hope to resume parent visitation very soon.  

 

My dancer is older and has no dance experience, are there classes for him/her?

We have classes for students of all ages and ability levels. Please contact us so we can place your dancer in the correct class/classes. 

Do you offer classes for boys?

Yes, boys are welcome to enroll in any of our dance classes!

 

Can my child join the Edge Company Competition team?

If your dancer is interested in joining  the competitive team, please email chrissy@edgedancecenter.com to learn more. 

UPDATE: COVID FAQ'S:

 

Are classes available in the studio?

All classes that are offered on our current class schedule are available in our physical studio.  Most of the classes are being offered simultaneously through Virtual instruction on Zoom. 

 

Do the dancers have to wear masks?

Yes, as mandated by local and state health organizations, masks must be worn for indoor activities.  Our smallest ballerinas ages 2-3 are encouraged but not required to wear masks.  

 

Is there protocol in place for dancers?

We have “Dance Safe” procedures in place for our studio. These procedures will be updated regularly as determined by the State and Local Health mandates. The updated procedures can be found on our website homepage

 

Can I still enroll after classes begin?

We are happy to accept new students in our classes as long as maximum enrollment has not been reached.  We have limited class sizes available due to Social Distancing requirements.  

 

My child does not do well with online classes. If classes are mandated to return to ALL virtual, am I able to withdraw my dancer? 

Yes.  You can withdraw a dancer at any time simply by emailing Edge Dance Center before the first class of the upcoming month.  Once tuition is paid for the current month it will not be refunded for withdrawal without notification.  

 

Will there be a recital or show at the end of the Season?

Edge has tentatively scheduled dates for the Recital and will release dates once confirmed.  We are prepared if backup options become necessary.  Costumes will be sized and ordered as usual.  There will be an open line of communication regarding recital plans.  

 

Will you still offer make up classes for those that are missed either virtually or in the studio? 

Because of limited class size in our studios, make up classes will have to be scheduled ahead of time. Speak with your teacher or Edge Customer Service Rep. to coordinate make up classes.
