Jake Simon

Jake discovered his love for dance at a very young age. He began training in theater at the age of 6 which included acting, singing and dancing. He performed at several shows at the Riverside Theater and that’s when he started to focus and train in Hip Hop dance. 

 

He eventually made his way to a local studio, Elements Dance Factory, where he trained under Daniel Ski" Sevitski for 8 years learning Hip Hop foundation. Jake also studied Contemporary, Jazz and Ballet. He competed in many solo and group competitions which won many awards in Hip Hop. Jake's team did charity performances to raise money for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and believes strongly in participating for the community. Jake's continued training included being a part of "I AM PHRESH/Academy of Phresh" under the direction ofMark and Shanika Boston.  He continues to perform and train with them today.  Jake and his team have received many awards in competitions at Prelude and World of Dance. He continues to train at Monsters of Hip Hop and Kaos Dance conventions as well as master classes whenever possible. 

 

Jake currently trains students and creates choreography competition pieces for groups and soloist. His students have taken home 1st place awards. Jake also won an award for best choreography in Hip Hop. He choreographed a video for SYTYCD contestant  Allen Genkin and his partner as well. He has danced for the Phillies, the Thanksgiving Day Parade and performed with Silento with his Phresh team. Jake mostly enjoys teaching his students and watching them grow as dancers while providing an understanding of the culture and styles of Hip Hop.
